How To Halter Break A Calf
Written By Dakota, age 11

How you start to halter break a calf.  You put the calf in a pen everyday, so you can touch and play with the calf.  It is good to play with them every day, for about three weeks.

After that, you should put a halter on the calf and try to walk it in a pen to start.  Then after you feel comfortable with the calf you can go to a yard.  You should then work one hour or more for two weeks.  After two weeks you can slow down on your time.  It is good to break them so it is easier to move the calf.  For example, so you can take them to an exposition or load into a trailer.
